Alyssa + Brian | Ovation Chicago Modern Minimalist Wedding

Alyssa and Brian met in college and let’s just say the rest is history.  For their March wedding they wanted to keep things simple and modern and they chose Ovation as the perfect spot for their celebration.  We went around town for an urban photo safari to capture the bridal party before getting settled for the ceremony.  After a short and sweet ceremony we got the party started right!  Guests were served individual pizzas from Copper Oven Pizza and they danced the night away with Style Matters DJ’s.  Congratulations to Alyssa and Brian!

Tara + Frank | Lincoln Park Spring Engagement Portrait

Now that it is officially Spring, we are gearing up for engagement session season and we can’t wait to get connected with our couples.  Here’s a look back at one of our Spring portrait sessions from last year.  Portrait sessions allow clients to create a solid connection with their photographer so that by the time the wedding day comes everyone is comfortable and we know how to get the best out of you.  Not only is this a win for your final wedding portfolio, but clients get to have great photos to use for Save-the Dates, holiday cards and wedding websites.  Many couples also choose to incorporate these images into the wedding reception decor, creating guest sign-in books or even having guests sign a matted image.  If you recently popped the question or said “Yes” we’d love to hear from you!  We will be offering Mini Portrait Sessions in April if you want a fun and easy way to capture the best of you.  Contact us at info@catturaweddings.com for details!

Kelly + Kevin | Chicago Winter Wedding at Salvatore’s

This month we had the honor of being featured in Chicago Style Weddings and as we approach Kelly and Kevin’s 1 year anniversary we wanted to share a few more images from the day.  This couple was a dream to work with and their love and dedication to each other and their families was inspiring.  Metallic and geometric design elements pulled together the theme of this wedding and Flowers for Dreams outdid themselves with the floral design.  Salvatore’s hosted the perfect event and we hope you enjoy looking back on your wedding day Kelly and Kevin! Courtney + Michael | Prairie Production Winter Wedding

Courtney and Michael’s wedding day was nothing short of magical…. albeit very, very cold!  But then again, what else would you expect from a winter wedding in Chicago?  Courtney came prepared with a fur stole and winter boots, perfect for braving the cold for an outdoor first look at Lasalle Street Bridge.  We took advantage of the snow-filled Riverwalk and made a quick stop in River Roast to warm up before heading over to Prairie Production to meet up with the bridal party.  We braved the bitter cold to step into the streets of the West Loop and and then stole a few moments with the couple before the ceremony began.  The sun was shining  through the wall of windows that made up the ceremony backdrop and the guests could see the snow covered trees in the background.  Basically a photographer’s dream!  Guests dined on Lou Malnati’s (the couples favorite) and it was a #pizzawedding indeed!  As the toasts came to a close the couple took to the dance floor and the space was transformed as the light went from day to night.  We had to peel the couple from the dance floor to sneak a few end-of-the-night shots and it was so worth it!  Congratulations Courtney and Michael!

Erica + Taylor | The Duck Inn Wedding | Sneak Peek

What happens when the groom is a chef?  You get one epic party with impeccable food and custom cocktails that make you melt.  Yes, there was a giant ice cube containing a frozen skull and flowers floating in a sea of booze in a mini bathtub. The place settings included crispy prosciutto with pork consommé and we all indulged in a cheese course after dinner!!  Who doesn’t love a cheese course?!  The staff was amazing and went above and beyond to keep guests dry during the downpour that arrived just as the ceremony started.  Thankfully, the sun came out and then, if the day could’t get any better, a double rainbow appeared so you know we had to go outside to capture it.  Happy one week anniversary Erica and Taylor!!
